As I prepare for my End of Course stage check followed by my FAA check ride I have one more key maneuver to practice – the short field take-off and landing. While that might not sound like much, it is definitely a challenge. I have been working at a very busy airport which has been great for communication and “surprise” maneuvers from the tower, but lets face it – a 7000 ft long by 150 ft wide runway is pretty much a luxury.
My instructor has been helping me with precision landings on this lengthy runway, but now we need to give this a try on a runaway which is not only short but narrow as well.
So here we go … short field on an actual short field. Yahoo !!! I’ll let you know how it goes.
